At a glance. The public Suttram website introduces the product and does not ask you to register. The Suttram mobile experience is in development; availability and data handling may evolve before general release. Where an app feature is described below, the description applies when that feature is available and used.
01. Who we are
Suttram (சுற்றம்) is a family-focused digital product and a Pragalya initiative. In this policy, “Suttram”, “we”, “our” and “us” refer to the team responsible for the Suttram website and app experience.
Questions about this policy, access to information or deletion requests can be sent to hello@pragalya.com.
02. Information we handle
Information from the public website
On this informational website, we do not ask visitors to create an account or submit family details. If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include in your message. The website remembers your English or Tamil display choice locally in your browser. Like most hosted sites, hosting and network services may process basic technical information such as IP address, browser details and request logs.
Information from the Suttram app
When the corresponding features are available, Suttram may process:
- Account information: name, email address, profile photo where provided, sign-in provider and account identifiers.
- Family Space information: family-space name, invited members, membership requests, accepted memberships and information entered in family profiles.
- Occasions and gifts: event titles, dates, descriptions, participation details, and any gift-related records you choose to add, which may include amounts or item descriptions.
- Preferences and technical data: language choice, app settings, device and diagnostic information needed to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service.
- Messages to us: support questions and feedback you submit.
Features shown in previews may not all be available at launch. We will revise this policy if the service begins handling additional kinds of information.
03. Google and Microsoft sign-in
Suttram uses Clerk for account authentication. If you choose Google or Microsoft sign-in, the relevant provider authenticates you and can share basic account information needed to create or access your Suttram account, such as your name, email address, profile image (if available) and provider-specific account identifier.
We use that information to identify your account, support sign-in, show your profile and maintain account security. Suttram does not ask for your Google or Microsoft account password. Our configured Google sign-in requests basic identity permissions (openid, email and profile); it is not intended to access your Gmail messages, Google Drive files or Google contacts.
The identity provider and Clerk also process information under their own privacy notices. You may review the information shared with connected apps in your Google or Microsoft account settings.
04. How we use information
We use information when necessary to provide the service and respond to your choices, including to:
- Authenticate you, maintain your account and protect against misuse.
- Enable family invitations, membership decisions, occasions and gift records as features become available.
- Display content to the family members or other people you choose through the app's sharing controls.
- Remember language preferences and improve accessibility and performance.
- Respond to support requests, investigate errors and meet applicable legal obligations.
We do not need access to your email inbox, contact list or cloud files for Google account sign-in.
05. Sharing and family access
Suttram is designed around intentional family membership. Content you add to a Family Space may be visible to other members according to the feature's access controls. Before adding information about someone else, consider whether they would be comfortable with it being shared with the intended group.
Information may also be shared with service providers working on our behalf, if required by law or when necessary to protect users and the service. We do not make family content publicly visible through this informational website.
06. Service providers and third-party services
Our website and app experience may rely on external providers for hosting, authentication, infrastructure, storage and technical support. In particular, Google and Microsoft provide optional sign-in, Clerk supports identity and session management, and this public site is hosted using a web hosting service. These providers may process the information required to deliver their services and may operate infrastructure outside your country.
This website also loads fonts from Google Fonts. Visiting external links, including Google and Microsoft sign-in screens, makes those providers' own notices applicable to their services.
07. Retention and security
We aim to retain personal information only for as long as it is needed for its intended purpose, to support the service, resolve disputes, address security concerns or meet applicable legal requirements. Actual retention periods may vary by data type and account status. When data is no longer needed, we aim to delete or de-identify it as appropriate.
We use technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the service, but no online transmission or storage method is completely secure. Please protect your sign-in credentials and report suspected account misuse.
08. Your choices and requests
Depending on the features available and applicable law, you may be able to view, update or remove some account and family information through the app. You may ask us about accessing, correcting or deleting personal information, withdrawing consent where applicable, or raising a privacy concern by emailing hello@pragalya.com.
Please tell us the request and the email associated with your Suttram account, if applicable. We may need to verify your identity before making changes. You can also change or remove the language preference saved by this website through your browser's site-data settings.
Disconnecting Suttram from your Google or Microsoft account does not necessarily erase information already associated with a Suttram account; contact us if you also want to request deletion.
09. Children's information
Suttram is designed for family connections, but the public website does not collect children's profiles. If an adult adds information about a child to an app feature, they should have appropriate permission and share only what is necessary. Children should not independently create accounts without the involvement and consent required by applicable law. Please contact us if you believe a child's information has been supplied improperly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy as Suttram's features and providers evolve, especially before the mobile app becomes generally available. The updated version will appear at suttram.pragalya.com/privacy with a new “Last updated” date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent.
11. Contact us
For privacy questions or requests, write to hello@pragalya.com. Please avoid sending sensitive personal documents unless we specifically request them through an appropriate process.
Still have a question?
We welcome questions about your information and the Suttram experience.
